We are looking to engage with partners who can assist us in our goal of reducing GHG 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As new technologies emerge, efficiencies will be gained and PepsiCo aims to remain at the forefront of best practices in the food and beverage industry. PepsiCo is seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. Solutions may be in one or more of the following areas: • Agriculture – sustainable farming and the reduction of GHG intensive fertilizers • Manufacturing – adopting energy efficient manufacturing processes; novel methods for utilizing waste; use of renewable thermal energy at scale • Packaging – alternative packaging materials and formats that reduce GHGs • Distribution – technologies to assist in the efficiency of our company-owned and third party fleet

We are looking for a technology to seal paper packaging materials (paper only with no plastic coating) without using traditional glues or any other additive. For a sustainable packaging application, we're looking for a technology to seal or crimp kraft paper without using glue or plastic coating applied on the paper. Ideally, we want to seal 100% untreated paper without adding any other chemicals. Our preferred solution would be a folding of the packaging material

PRISM: Plastic packaging Recycling using Intelligent Separation technologies for Materials

PRISM is a process for rapidly automatically sorting packaging based on intelligent labels with invisible markers. Codes are written using luminescent materials, typically inorganic phosphors. At the recycling facility the articles are subject to excitation radiation of a specific wavelength and a few seconds/milliseconds later are subject to infra‑red detection as currently. This 2‑step process can identify articles according to the codes and sort them as specified. The benefits include increased recycling rates, the ability to sort articles by their end use (food, non-food) and composition increasing the value of such plastic. Incorporation into existing recycling facilities is easy and cost‑effective with a limited need for capital investment.
